Hi all,
Since I got the latest update it seems that pro is using alot more resources on my pc. And if I use pro to browse my patterns (I have tons) before I can get thru half of them a window pops up and says the windows is low on memory and pro closes (eventually... takes a few for it to close completly) is anyone else having this prob? I have already done a virus scan and spyware scans and havent found any probs there.... just wondering if its only an issue for me

Renee,
I haven't seen this exact problem but I know version 7 seems to have a "memory leak". If I left it up for a long period of time (even minimized) everything else on my PC slowed down. Pro doesn't seem to do this (at least not as bad). That may be the problem.
It may also be your operating system. During a beta test of a game a few months ago there was a problem of the memory leak for 98 and ME but not for XP. I'm running ME.

I am running xp media. I was just now working on a pattern and went to save it and it froze.... it is really annoying! I mean, in 5 never had this prob, nor in 6. vs. 7 small problems here and there but the pro vs. man, I'm having probs left and right... I am beginning to wonder if I've wasted my money....
Not so satisfied anymore.

General hint for ANY software. If you are creating something (whether a design or writing a letter or creating software or anythig else), save often!
Even if your software has no problems and is working fine for you, something could happen. It could be as simple as a squirrel biting the power lines outside and your have a sudden outage!
Always make it a habit to save every 10 - 15 minutes if your software does not have an auto-save feature.

I did some research after seeing this thread, and it looks like we do have a memory "leak" in the pattern browser panel somewhere.
I will try to find it and get it fixed in the next maintenance update.

Hello All! Was just checking in to see if the 'memory leak' has been addressed and/or when it will be. My pro vs. still hogs all of my system's resources and crashes frequently.... does anyone know if there's an update in the near future? Well thanks for any info...

I was speaking to a girl in the office and she indicated that currently they are concentrating on developing a view for PCStitch Pro and that upgrades to PCStitch Pro are on hold unless a major issue comes up. She did not know when the viewer would be ready for release and when upgrades would be forthcoming. |

Hi All, Well I have sure spent a very frustrating evening with my pro software. 15 minutes to emport an image to pattern 11" x 13". Lots of trouble with the software using too much memory. I hope that this changes soon. A lot of the colors show up without a symbol.
Can't print the pattern after creating it as it uses too much memory.
The other problem is a bug that the software sometimes just does what it wants to. Such as the borders feature will open up without my clicking on it and when that happens the software will open up to show the pcstitch icon on my desktop????????? It's not spyware or a virus as I keep this all up to date. Susan |

Maybe I'm the exception but I haven't had any memory problems. With 7 (Standard), I would not leave it opened (even minimized) for very long because it would slow down everything on my PC after a while. I'm running an older operating system (ME) with only 128 MB memory.
With Pro, I have not had any problems. It's a bit slow to load and wake up but that's about it. I load it just before I'm ready to use it and then just minimize it (saving the data just in case) each time I'm through for a periond of time and turnt he PC over to hubby.
Could the problems be operating system dependent?

I also am having a horrible time with Pro and my Windows XP operating system. Locks up all the time, and takes forever to do anything. It is using up all my computers resources and I have a lot of memory, but Pro is asking for more. Windows has even increased my "virtual memory" and that has not helped. I am so upset because I have a lot of projects on Pro and more to come that I am looking forward to doing. At this point I am not a happy camper, and very disappointed in this product. I will also tell my sister, who loves cross-stitching NOT to get this product until the problem is fixed.

Hi all, pcstitch7 seems to work pretty good but, ugh pro is really doggin it last night. The problem seems to start when I start a second pattern. What I usually have to do after this starts is shut the program down and restart it to clear it. Pro should be able to create a pattern the size I was working on with no problem. I mean it's called pro.
So I shut it down and started 7 and re-loaded the same image in the same format and everything went well.
I think that there something wrong when the pro model software creates a pattern so large that it can't be printed because of not enough memory but when I export to pcstitch 7 I can print it. I'm running an older xp operating system. I really like the finished product but the program has a lot of bugs. I mean 15 minutes it a bit much. Susan |

Just checking in on my post and I see there are quite a few of us that are having the 'memory' problem... I really hope that it is addressed in the near future... just today I went to browse my patterns in the pro. vs. and before it could even show one full pattern I get the "systemoutofmemory" screen and had to go so far as shutting down my pc manually because it just froze and nothing would bring it out but shutting it down. As much as I love cross stitching with this program I am afraid to open it!!! I think I am going to surf the web for other proggies, anyone have a suggestion?

Hi, Well I just got the new update today and wow. Now I when I export the pattern to image the image is really messed up. First the image file is huge so when I resize it all I get is huge white patches or squares. I had to export the pattern to pcstitch 7 and then export to image to get a decent image. What will fix for this problem. Also when I closed the pattern file in pro the software just kept running so I brought up task manager to see what was running and it was pro not responding to the command to close. The memory usage is still huge. The software is working very slowly. Susan |

delite163,
You say you just upgraded. Could you tell me what version you are now using? I just checked and no new versions were available. The last one is dated August 29 (8.02.04).
Mark has "promised" a new one in the next couple of weeks.
I am running ME and I have had no problems with this software. It is very slow to load and the "wake up" but actual execution is no problem. I exported to an image for that contest mentioned elsewhere on this board and had no real problems. It looked a bit weird if I used virtual stitches but fine if I used color blocks.
