heelo there..my name is Gill, and this is my first day on the forum. The artists' colour wheel gives red, yellow, blue, as primaries. However, this is further divided into warm and cold...scarlet red, buttercup yellow, cerulean blue are warm primaries, and crimson red, lemon yellow, and cobalt blue are cold primaries. This is a tremendous help when being artistic, whether it's painting or embroidering. When choosing colours to blend or tone, notice whether your reds veer to the yellow in them or the blue..likewise, notice if your yellow is veering to a red or blue, and if your blue will have a red or yellow bias. With that in mind, you will need to decide whether you want a warm or cold primary..how about one of each?! |
