I am having similar problems to NSTigress who posted on 05/25/06 I also have reinstalled the pattern viewer and tried with new downloads but it is still refusing to open any of the patterns. Some patterns I get Error code 1 and some I get Error code 52. No problems till about a month ago. Hope you can help me.

It is hard to tell what th problem is without seeing the pattern. If you want to email me one at mmiller@pcstitch.com, I will take a look at it for you.
