Although A Ver A Soie and Soie D'Alger are listed on my PC Stitch 11 Palette Drop Down it only shows DMC Stranded colors. I am a new user to PC Stitch 11 and decided to go ahead with DMC Stranded to chart a reproduction of one of my antique samplers thinking when I publish I would be able to customize the legend somehow to show the AVAS colors for the symbols I used. Using my color charts for DMC and AVAS, I matched the silk colors on my antique to AVAS silks and then matched DMC to the AVAS colors. Can't figure out how to use the DMC symbols and enter AVAS colors. It would be so easy if the A Ver A Soie, Soie D'Alger colors were loaded into the palette. Is there a way to get them in?

Jaenn,

I was a little confused at first. I see that first one "A Ver a Soie" but not the second one on my PCStitch 11. Then I realized that you're right. They're not there by default.

As far as I know, other than making the floss palette yourself (defining the colors themselves and their numbers), the only way to get that palette set (about 6 variations) is to use a product from myriaCross at http://www.myriacross.com/products-en.html#p4 . There is a product called myriaCross Floss PCS that only lists through about PCStitch 10 but does work through the current version for over 300 palette sets and variations. It has not been updated since 2011. The price listed is $14.95 US. There are different downloads for the different variations of PCStitch but I've had it for years and just copied the floss definitions from one version to the next one with no problems.

The second floss you mentioned wasn't in my list either. That one may have no alternative than to define it yourself.

If you use the Stranded DMC, you can include in the "Instructions" a mapping list of DMC to your preferred floss brand.

Diane, I appreciate your thoughtful response. I saw a comment you had made about Myria Cross when I was reading through the Forum trying to find a solution yesterday and I purchased that product. During installation it advised that I had to have PC Stitch 9 or it would not work so I obtained PC Stitch 9 and the Myria Cross floss lists loaded right up into that version. I was hoping the Myria Cross floss lists would show in PC Stitch 11 but they didn't. Mark said if I could get the floss list that Myria Cross used for AVAS in the .COL file that is in PC Stitch 9 and load it into the folder C:\ProgramData\PCStitch11\Flosses it would be available in PC Stitch 11. I don't know how to get that.COM floss file so I have sent an email to Myria Cross asking for help. Can you copy out the A Ver A Soie .COM files from your PC Stitch 9 and put them in 11 and show me how?

If you have PCStitch 9 and PCStitch 11 and you have those floss palettes in PCStitch 9, it's easy to get them to 11.

Just go to ProgramData\PCStitch 9\Flosses. Note that ProgramData may be a hidden folder. You may have to use the folder options to show hidden folders. I "unhid" things like that when I first got the PC - it's easier!

Just sort by name and look for a bunch of .col files that start "mC_". Select them all and COPY (not cut) to the ProgramData\PCStitch 11\Flosses folder.

That's all it takes!

Extra info -- to view hidden folders, to the following (at least for Windows 7). Click on "Tools" in the menu of Windows Explorer. Select "Folder Options". Alternative is to select "Folder and Search Options" from "Organize".

Select "View". Under "Hidden files and folders", select "Show hidden files, folders and drives". Click "OK" and ProgramData should show.

If you want to keep seeing that folder after you're through here (for possible more changes), right click on it and select "Properties". Uncheck "Hidden" and that's all you need!

Rats...I'm sorry to say that I'm apparently so inept that I couldn't find the place for ProgramData\PCStitch9\Flosses and that's not all. I thought I had bought PC Stitch 9 when Myria Cross said I needed it in order to get the floss options but it turns out that the PC Stitch 9 I downloaded is only a demo and when I clicked to purchase it I was taken to PC Stitch 11, which I already have with no option to buy the earlier versions. I really do like PC Stitch 11 with my Windows 10 Lenovo desktop except for not being able to get AVAS Soie D'Alger. The odd thing is that other AVAS products did come over to PC Stitch 11. I have Pattern Maker too but haven't used it and when I checked the Myria Cross seems to have updated the floss list for that including Soie D' Alger. If I knew where to find the ProgramData for that I might be able to use your instructions to get it for PC Stitch 11. The Myria Cross claims to also work with PC Stitch 10 so I'll try to find a copy of that I can purchase and will keep you posted.

Even the trial version of PCStitch 9 should work.

To find ProgramData, you need to be at the "root" level (the Computer level). It's at the same level as Windows, Users, Program Files and Program Files (x86).

I don't know what version of Windows you are using but there should be, somewhere, in the menu system a way to allow you to see hidden folders and files. That's what I gave you in that description. It's an option.

Possibly you can find the folder by doing a search for mC_*.col.

My daughter in law was able to help me find the myria Cross file for A Ver. Soie, Soie D'Alger using your tips and she copied it into PC Stitch 11.

Thanks for your help.
