I find laying my chosen colours out and making my own paletter helps enormously but I would like to know if there is a source that helps chose the right colours for a subject. E.g. if I want to stitch a ginger cat is there a site that enables me to chose the best colours for that project?

Also, what you see is very different than what the computer sees.
I see no way of automating that.
Even if you wanted the best colors for a 'ginger cat', there are other things that would be involved and there are different shades of "ginger" from a blond to an almost orange. I once had one that was named Molasses because that was his coloring.
