Hello All~I received my PC Stitch Pro 9 the other day and have managed to print a pattern from a picture. My problem is this...I am stitching baby feet and the colors seem really odd. For instance, they are not very "skin" colored at all (I would expect beige/lt brown and light pinks/roses) it is calling for purples and deep reds (most of the purples are dark too). I really need some help trying to figure out how to change the color or select a different palate. Or if anyone thinks this is normal and that the picture will come out pretty true even with the strange colors. ANY help is greatly appreciated, so thank you in advance!!!

From your description, It appears that you have imported a picture into PCStitch. The feet may have been in shadow on the original photo. Remember that the computer sees color differently than you do. For the best effects, your photo should be tiny (dimensions in pixels about what you want in stitches -- one pixel / stitch is the best setup).

The colors you see are close to the actual floss colors so it's a case of what you see is what you get. You can adjust things on import by specifying the number of colors and by keeping it small, you reduce confetti stitches and some of the odd colors. However, you may still get some weird ones.

To change a color, you can select a color and tell PCStitch to replace all of a specific color with this color. You can select from the list of available colors and they can be listed in various ways, even by color so you can select the best fit for you.

Remember that an import of a photo is almost never "ready to stitch" immediately upon import. You need to "tweak" - remove confetti stitches, change colors, add backstitches or fractional/specialty stitches and so forth.

Good Luck,

Diane

Confetti stitches are named because they kind of look like that. It's a single stitch of a color either totally by itself with no other stitches around or it's surrounded by other colors. These singleton stitches take a lot of time to do, make your back look bad by crossing from one to another, make the pattern far more difficult to follow and just generally are a pain.

With imported images into patterns, many times, they can be simply changed to one of the other colors in the area. Such as a very dark shade of a color next to a bunch of slightly lighter shades of a similar color can be changed to that lighter shade while actually making the pattern look better.
