When I used PCStitch 7 and 'previewed' before I actually printed...I had the option to 'export' each individual chart page to a folder and save as a jpg.
I still need to do this once in a while....but Pro is not giving me that option. Am I missing it somewhere? Is there any way I can make it give me that option? |

Pro has an export option but it's not with the print. I'm not sure how it works with a multi-page item. Under File there are two options: Image file and PCStitch Standard format. You may have to work with the image options for a larger pattern but it should do what you wish.

I had already found that. It only allows you to save the entire pattern as a picture. Not page by page. so I clicked on the 'area tab' thinking that it might let me do it there...but it only lets you choose this.....
"The Area tab allows you to select the upper left and lower right corners of an area if you do not want to export your entire pattern."
If it DOES allow it page by page...it is not clear on how to do it and it does not explain how in the help section.
In the old version I could preview each page one at a time and then tell it to export just that page to a jpg.
I wish they would give instructions on how to do it here...or if it is not possible...they should put that feature back into the program. Some of my customers want the charts in the jpg format and not in PDF. Surely I'm not the only one with customers who want this.
Let me ask you if you know the answer to this question...
When I got the Pro I installed it on my new computer and am using that. If I ALSO install the old PCStitch 7 onto the new computer so I can use that feature...do you think it will work? Or if the two programs will cause some kind of problem and interfere with one another in some way? |

There is a tab where you select overlaps as well. It may be that you use that offset option to create each page by page. I've not used that option myself.
However, the Pro vs. 7 question I can answer! Just install Pro and Standard in separate folders and you can have them side by side! I know that one because I do it! That's how I can research questions on both products.
I recommend installing Standard (7) first. Then install Pro. That way Pro "owns" the .PAT extension. If you just double-click on a file, it will open in Pro. If you want to open it in 7, you need to right click and select that program. If you create a pattern in Pro that you want to process in any way in Standard, use the Export option to put it in the appropriate format.
If you already have Pro installed, go ahead an install Standard. Then right click on any pattern and use the option to select a new program. Make sure the "set as default" selection is set. Don't choose Pro from the menu, traverse your folder tree to select the Pro executable directly. For some reason, you often don't get the icons right unless you do this trick.
At least Standard has been fixed. An earlier version kept stealing the .pat extension every time it was opened. It no longer does that! If it is assigned, it leaves it alone.

I tried using the export function on a very large pattern to try to save only a portion of the pattern. Although you can`t ask for page 6 you can produce page 6 if you know the exact row and column numbers for that page. For example if you want to save from column 200 to column 250 and Row 100 to row 150 you would enter it in the area tab are Upper left X 200 Y 100 Lower Right X 250 Y 150
If you select preview it will show you want you will be saving. I hope this helps. |

Hi mcmillc.
I thought that probably had something to do with it...but I couldn't figure it out. I'm copying and pasting your example so I won't have to try and remember it.
What puzzles me is why they had to make it so complicated in the newer version when it was so simple before! You actually have to sit there and figure out mathematically what you want before you can do it. SHEESH!
Hint, Hint guys! Ya need ta put it back the way it was. LOL |
