I understand to set stitch amount to pixel amount but I could not figure out how to change my picture size in paint ... also, my original is 503x600 pixels and I do not know what to size it down to, then when I making the pattern how many stitches do I say for it 503x 600? Sorry but I do not know what settings to use ... Thanks

If you want to change the size of your image, I suggest you check here: http://www.cross-stitch-board.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28759

It is a tutorial I wrote for the EMS Cross Stitch board on just this topic.

As far as the desired size, think about what size you want the finished project to be and what count of fabric you plan to use. For example, if you want an 8 X 10 on 14 count then you want the width to be 8 X 14 = 112 stitches. Or you could use height of 10 inches for a stitch count of 140 stitches. Do either (not both) and make sure you change both width and height by the SAME percentage to keep the proportions of the picture the same.

Exactly what percentages you use is something you have to work with and "play" with until you get what you want. Just make sure you play with a copy of the original so you can always start over again with the original.
