I don't know about some of you, but I am confused on the Variations and the Variegated colors. I'm guessing that the Variations are two or more colors put together and the Variegated is one color with three or more shades? Am I correct? If not, what is the difference?

Kay,

From what I understand, DMC no longer makes the variegated flosses. I believe they are using the Color Variations as a replacement for them.

Thanks for your response Diane, but when I was on their website, on the regular cotton floss they listed 18 colors of variegated and then there was a seperate list of the variations colors as well.

They may be planning on removing them and possibly only in some areas. There are colors that are available in the US but not anyplace else. I have never understood that, nor the fact that it seems to be a lot cheaper here in the US. They are based in France!!!

Diane,

I emailed DMC and this is what they told me about the 'variegated' and 'variations'.

Variegated is 'tone on tone' or in other words, shades of ONE color. A few colors have been discontinued, but they did keep the popular colors. Variations on the other hand is a combination of FOUR colors.

I hope that helps anyone and everyone!
