I believe that each "x" is considered a stitch. You can test this by making ONE stitch, and then checking the stitch count for that color.
The count may be accurate but my personal experience is the floss usage is not that accurate, even if you use the same fabric count as is listed in the instructions.
Thank you Diane! I never even thought to do a single "x" test. Just did the "test" as suggested and you are correct - each "x" is considered 1 stitch. Interestingly it doesn't consider back stitches as a stitch but rather gives you that information as a measurement in inches.
