It depends on what you mean for "blended" stitches.
If you're talking about the number of symbols/colors defined that are blended. I don't know if there is a limit. I know that some designers, like Teresa Wentlzer uses a lot of them. I have one small one of hers (only 38x38 stitches) that has 7 blended colors.
If you're talking about how many colors you can blend into a single stitch, I think that would get very bulky, very fast. I don't think that more than 2 colors are allowed to be blended into a single color.
