You're saying you don't see "DMC Stranded Cotton" in the drop down menu for flosses? Try reinstalling the product. That should get it back.
Good Luck,

Thanks Dragonlair. Now I have another problem. I tried to save the pattern i'm working on, and it won't save. The file it saves under is a PAT file, and turns into a bmp. How can i change it?

Are you using the same "save" option that defaults to .pat? If it suddenly says .bmp, try changing the .bmp to .pat and see what happens? You will get a complaint from Windows but tell it it's OK.
Are you sure it's .bmp and not .bpt? The .bpt file is a BACKUP of your .pat files. It is created when you start to edit any file.

I can't change the file name when i'm trying to save it. Do i have to change it in the stitch program? It has never done this before.

I was referring to changing the name in Windows Explorer (file explorer), not within PCStitch. Almost no software allows that.
Remember that you must do a Save or Save As, not an export to an image file.

No, I mean, go to the folder where the PCStitch files have been saved. When you do a "Save As", it tells you what folder is used by the files. Open that folder. If you see a .bmp file that should be a .pat file, right-click on it, select "rename" from the drop-down menu and change the extension (the part after the ".") from bmp to pat. Make sure you KEEP that ".". See if that affects the problem.
If you don't see any .bmp files, then you've got another problem and probably may be misinterpreting what is happening.

Ok there isn't any bmp, it says PAT. Still won't work. This makes no sense, i have been using this program for several years. Now it just won't work.

What do you mean by it won't work? What happens if you double-click on one of those .pat files? It should open PCStitch with that pattern opened.

It doesn't work, it saves to a bmp, which then won't open. I don't know what the problem is all of a sudden.

Try completely uninstalling the program and then re-installing it -- reboot the computer in between the uninstall and re-install. See if that makes any difference.

You can check your computer for a virus (full scan) using whatever anti-virus you are running. If that comes out clean - I recommend you contact Mark on the issue. He may have other hints and since it's his software (I'm just a volunteer helper), he may very well have more ideas.
