Is there a way to import multiple images to create a single design? I have two images that I want to use to create a pattern; however, when I try to import the second image, it creates another design. I tried importing one as an underlay; however, it doesn't show up. I have no clue what the purpose of the underlay. I know what underlay is in machine embroidery, just not sure how it works in cross stitch.
The only way to make a single pattern out of multiple images is to make multiple patterns and merge them manually. If possible, you might try to use software to make a single image out of the multiple images and then import that. Note - that might make a pattern that is more complex than can be easily digitized into a pattern.
The underlay is designed as an aid to making a pattern. With it "under" the grid, you can use it to make your pattern. It's kind of in between a totally scratch pattern and an imported image to a pattern.
Remember that an import is never expected to be the final pattern. It is simply the first step. The computer sees things (especially colors) vastly different than people do. You must take what it gives you and "tweak" or "adjust" that to what you want. It takes time. Even a simple black-lined cartoon-like image can take hours to smooth down to a good pattern. You may see only black and white but the image resulting from import has a lot of gray and even yellow and purple.
