Is there anyway to see what the size will be before the actual stitching

Depending on your settings, you can get either direct or indirect information as to size.

If you set the options for inches, then you see the size direct for the fabric size you have chose.

What I feel is a better indicator is to keep the display set to stitches. From there you can determine the size of the finished piece.

Remember that the software is very flexible. If you are designing for 14 count (14 stitches / inch -- the most common size) and later decide to do it in 18 count, you can figure out how big it is for either size. Just divide the number of stitches by the fabric size, you've got the physical size.
