Made a new pattern, I get the following erroe when I try to print:
System Error: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
Do you want to email this information to PCStitch Technical Support?
I've had this before and a computer restart fixes it. Not so much today. Anyone? |

First - try a reboot and then try to print.
Also, try another pattern to see if it's related to the one pattern.
If that fails, use the Contact Us point and give all possible info -- including your operating system, whether you're 32 or 64 bit and other such points.
Good Luck,

No response yet, was hoping for something faster from the forums. :/ |

The forum is just volunteers. I've worked with the developers testing their products for some years now but I'm still just a volunteer. I can answer most questions on how the product works but for fixing bugs, if a reboot and/or re-install can't fix the problem, it has to go to Mark.
It sounds like you have a corrupted file. Have you tried a reinstall?

Yay volunteers! I didn't know. :)
Not a full reinstall yet. Going to try and do that this evening when the other half is home to make sure I don't lose any other patterns I created.
I hope it's not this one. Took me so long to make it. :( |

Reinstall should not touch any patterns. Patterns are DATA and are not involved in the product software itself.

So if a reinstall doesn't work, it's the pattern file causing the issue? *cries*
Is there a way I can find out why the pattern I made might be causing the issue? I don't have a problem with any of the other ones I've made in the program. |

Have you tried opening the bpt file? That's the backup of the pattern file.
One thing you might do and only if you have enough posts to send an email. Send me an email and once we have communication started, you can email me the pattern and I'll try to open it on my PCStitch 11. If that works, it's your program. If it doesn't, it's the pattern. Either way, if it used to work, the .bpt file should open.
If you do send me the file, I promise only to use it for this test and once you get it working, I'll delete it.
If you can't get the .bpt to know it's supposed to work with PCStitch, rename it to .pat. You may have to rename the rest of the file name to avoid duplicate names.

I can open the .bpt, but can't print from it. We even tried copying the design I created into a new pattern, still nothing. I've made larger patterns with more colors and stitches with no problem.
I don't have enough posts to send you an email. Guess I'll try and make it again and see if I have the same error.
EDIT: Funny story! I've tried making THREE different patterns as I'm giving up on this one for now.... same error! Can't print! And this time I'm using solely templates and text within the software.
Could this be conflicting with a Windows 10 update?
EDIT #2: The husband finally had time to sit down and see what's going on (he's an IT Director so yay!). We ran a memory diagnostics and nothing's wrong on my end. It seems that error occurs in programs when for whatever reason, it decides to blow up the memory used, maxes it out, and then shuts down, preventing anything from being done. This is what is happening with any new pattern I create and try to print, no matter how simple the stitches are.
We did another full uninstall and reinstall. Still the same error with new patterns, but I can go back to old ones (newest one I made a month ago) and print them no problem. Seems this is a new software issue that hasn't been made aware of yet. |

It's a possibility that it's objecting to the a windows 10 update. That's where sending to me would be nice -- I'm using windows 7! I do also have Windows 8.1 available and I THINK I have PCStitch 11 installed on the laptop.
If multiple patterns are giving the same problem, I would encourage a try of uninstall/reinstall. You may have to give the unlock code again but most likely not. It sounds like it's either being blocked by Windows 10 or some file got corrupted somewhere along the way. That does happen.
Can you open the original pat file but not print? Or is it only the .bpt file you can open but can't print.

Edited my last post while you made a reply. ;)
I wasn't able to print from either format. Yup, sounding like a Windows 10 issue with whatever update came through recently. |

It really bothers me that you can print files you printed a month ago but not now. PCStitch hasn't changed in that time that that I am aware of so the files created should not change.
For the files that don't print, is there anything unique in how they are made? Is there any feature involved in those files that is not in the older patterns that do print? Or, are the older patterns ones that were created in PCStitch 10?
Your post count is now high enough so that you can use emails. I do suggest you send me 2 of your patterns (just for testing, I'll delete them later). One that will print and one that will not. That might give me more of an idea of what is going on.
BTW - I've got an OLD Master of Science in Computer Science degree from Oklahoma State University in 1979. I'm no novice myself. I just haven't been in the field professionally for some time. There are some things that you just don't lose and I've managed our multiple personal devices for 20 years. My total experience is more than 35 years managing from little tablets to the big mainframe computers. I don't work with the mainframes and haven't for 20 years but I keep active enough with tablets, laptops and PCs!

PC Stitch hasn't changed, but there was most likely a Windows 10 update.
I'll email you with the last one I made that I'm able to print and the most recent one. They're all pretty simple with PC Stitch templates.
Thanks! |

As I said in my email (and repeating here to possibly help others), the problem may be a print driver. Even if it's windows, it may be a print driver, and not PCStitch.
I have 2 HP printers that are new (this year). I have Windows 7 (totally up to date) on an older (2012) machine. The print drivers won't support most software, even if it's not that old. I can only get Internet Explorer and Foxit (Adobe clone) to print directly. Therefore, what I do is use Foxit's virtual printer and create a PDF during print and then print from Foxit. It's a little clunky but it does work!

Also sharing for everyone.
This does seem to be a problem between PCStitch 11 and a recent update to Windows 10.
I went ahead and downloaded & installed PCStitch 10. So far so good! BUT! I don't have my unlock code anymore from that purchase over a year ago. Waiting to hear back from customer support so I can truly test if the problem is solved. |

Sadly, I still cannot print via version 10. Same error.
I went ahead and sent another support email through the program updating them as this seems to affect the older version as well.
:( Pretty bummed as I had a commission I have to put on hold now until this can get fixed. |
