Hi - am sure the answer is obvious but sometimes it is quicker to ask! When importing a photo, white areas show as no stitches. Winter white and white shades do show as stitches but it seems true white stitches are being read or interpreted as no stitch present, if you get my drift. Other than adding white to the palette and clicking on every blank stitch space, is there a way to change this so that white areas actually show as white stitches on the pattern? Many thanks
To get big blocks of stitches in the background (if you truly want white floss), just fill in the other stitches (or tweak to have them as you want) an then "paint" the unstitched area with the desired floss color! You may have to repeat for some areas and even manually mark individual stitches in a few areas but you can get big bang for your buck with paint.
Thank you for that, I actually meant if there was another way other than clicking or using paint. Why do white stitches not show up on the pattern? Is there a way to ensure that white stitches actually show up on the pattern as stitches or do they have to be manually tweaked/added? Can blank stitches be replaced with white?
If you're talking about importing images, the software is probably designed to interpret white as "blank" as most stitching is done on white or off-white fabric.
Remember - the design you create is YOURS! There is absolutely NO reason you cannot consider a box with no symbol as using white - except for the fact that you won't get any estimate(even a bad one) on how much floss to use or the number of "stitches" included. You will have to convert them to stitches for that information.
I've never found any software's estimate of floss usage that accurate anyway.
