I just posted a new pattern to Etsy and two of my purchasers wrote to tell me that they can barely see the grid lines within the larger square on my pattern. I really need some help here and soon. Thank you for anything you can do to help me.

Assuming you designed the pattern using PCStitch (and why would you be posting here otherwise), the next question is - are you providing the pattern in PCStitch format or another format (such as jpg or PDF)?

In any case, there are print parameters that can be used to define how bold or dramatic the grid lines are and the bold marker lines (default every 10 stitches) are compared to the "normal lines". You can check both the printer options and the designer options (for the pattern itself).

If the pattern is in .pat format, you need to make sure that the buyers have at least that version of PCStitch or they can't open it. Also, it would be their options that have to be set for the grid lines.

Good Luck,

Diane

I am sending this pattern to the purchaser on Etsy in PDF format. I have just compared my graphs with a few I did last year and the grid lines do seem to be a little lighter. Maybe this is a printer problem and since I do have a new printer, never used, I can check this out tomorrow. Where are the designer options for defining how bold or dramatic the grid lines are.

I thank you for your help, and yes, I have PC Stitch 10.

If you're sending to a PDF, then the printer shouldn't be a problem but your printer definitions may be. Also, the display and the print grid option are separate.

I had to find my old PCStitch 10 to check where the options are since PCStitch 11 uses the ribbon by default (I still have both installed so I can help both).

For PCStitch 10, use the Tools main option and under there is a menu option for "Options".

The one you want to pay careful attention to is "Grid Line Settings" under Printing.

The default values are for all grid lines to be black but the "normal" ones to be width 1 and the bold ones to be width 5.

The display has the two types of grid lines in light and dark gray for normal/bold respectively. That is found under Default Pattern Settings.

Good Luck,

Diane
