There are compatibility issues with the installation of the software in the some systems.

PCStitch 11 must installed .Net framework 4.5 as minimum, not 4.0. But setup has only .NET Framework 4 Client Profile. So, in the Windows XP (yes, it is absent in system requirements for 11 version) and Windows 7 (default installed .Net 3.5.1) are problems. Software not work without .Net 4.5, 4.6...

Windows updates often put in the .NET software from what I've seen.

Most software no longer supports XP. Even Vista is barely listed anymore.

I'm running Windows 7 and have absolutely no problems with it.

I don't know how to determine which versions of .NET I do have running. Can you tell me?

Of course, but not all use it. Some specifically disable the updates.

Yes. This trend of recent years. But PCStitch 10 work perfect in Win XP - Win 10 x64. Super version!

I do not know how to determine which versions of .NET I do have running. Can you tell me?

Unfortunately I do not possess such knowledge.

How I tested:

1. Install Clean XP. Install PSCtitch 11, Software wrote, what is not Win32 application :)

2. Install clean Windows 7 SP1 x86 without any updates. Software is crashing in start.
I checked the installed software and found .net 4.0 client profile.
I installed .net 4.0 full. Not help.
Then installed .net 4.5 and software is running good! After, i deleted all .net version and testing 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2. With versions 4.5 and higher, software is working good.

****

In the Windows 8-10 already have new versions of .Net. Therefore, there is no problem.

As a solution, you need to include in the installer .net 4.5 instead of 4.0 client, to avoid problems with some versions of Windows 7

I agree - I suggest you notify Mark on that issue so it can be addressed. In my case, I think I already had 4.5 installed and have had for some time. I do not have a "clean" 7 install, My machine is just over 4 years old. It also installed on my 1.5 year old laptop running 8.1.

To find Mark, just look for his profile and use the email contact.

Good Luck,

Diane

That's an idea but use it with caution. I never use that feature, I use Revo Uninstaller Pro and CCleaner also has a more "friendly" interface. It's called "Programs and Features" in Windows 7.

I did check with both CCleaner and the control panel. Both just list 1.1 and 4.6.1 and I know I get the updates for other versions. I do not let Windows update itself. It can look and tell me that there are updates but it's not allowed to even download them, much less install them unless I say so (other than MSE). Anti-virus updates are the only updates I allow without my say-so if I can possibly do it.

Hm, i think you ask how to determine which versions of .NET using PCStitch 11 :)
If you want know, what version installed in system, it's very simple.
Try free software .NET Version Detector http://www.asoft.be/prod_netver.html

Thank you, Strix.

I'll do some research on that before I try it. It's just me -- I always check things out. It sounds interesting.
