Is there any way of exporting the floss lists? I have created my own and am now about to wipe my computer and reinstall (Windows 8). However, some of my floss lists are in the several hundreds. I need to save them externally but can not find a way to export them.

You should be able to just copy the files onto a flash drive, cd or external drive and copy them back into the new location after the new install.
Personal note ------ I have absolutely NO desire to go within 1000 miles of Windows 8.

Thanks Diane. I had to search a bit to locate the flosses folder but found it in "Program Data". I've copied and am now happy.
As for Windows 8 - I actually like it. I know; shock horror! but I like the full screen IE10 (Metro) and the intuitive menus etc. It does take some getting used to, but at only AU$50 to upgrade it is a bargain.

Hi Tobias,
I'm glad you found the files. I probably should have pointed you towards ProgramData but I wasn't exactly sure where you were coming FROM to get to Windows 8. I just upgraded to 7 myself. I "unhid" ProgramData and Appdata because of the nature of the stuff I do on the PC.
Quick question relating to Windows 8. Are the "Intuitive Menus" icon driven or do they also have text? My husband has an unusual form of dyslexia and has trouble reading "symbols".

The good news is the interface is actually two interfaces.
1. There is the tablet style tiles interface - it has text but, because of its floating, dynamic nature it may be distressing for your husband in his condition.
2. The other is the desktop, which is almost exactly the same as Windows 7. It has normal icons with text under them. It has the task bar with icons (large or small) and you can have text or icons. The task bar doesn't have the start button, but there are easy work-arounds and you can create an icon to open the start menu.
The beauty of having two interfaces is that you can turn off the one you don't want, effectively giving you a faster version of Windows 7 if you choose the 'desktop' version.

Thanks for the information! However, even though I could get 8 at a discount since I just got this 7 machine, I think I'll stay with this. We've just about gut it completely configured for us and I'm still adding my favorite applications and just getting started putting my games back on!
As it is, we have the desktop icons turned off (invisible) as we did for Vista. We have a solid black "desktop" with no icons at all visible. We do all of our work through the start menu and taskbar

I liked Windows 7 when I got it, and Micro$oft will be supporting it until 2030 I understand.
By-the-way, if you do decide to upgrade one day, Windows 8 allows you to keep all your files, setting, and personalisation from Windows 7.

Hello! I am on Windows 7 and I cannot find the "floss" folder in order to save my unique floss files I have created. Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks! |

Charity,
In Windows 7, look in C:\ProgramData\PCStitch 10. Note -- ProgramData is normally a hidden folder so you need to go to your folder options and set to view hidden folders. You can then "unhide" the folder to keep it visible permanently or you can hide it again by resetting the flags in those options.
