I've got this nice gypsy scene jpg which i'd like to do to a size of approx. 5ft x 2ft, (I know its large but there brilliant when done), but probably worked in wool. (half-crosstitch).
I've done one already but that came with the picture already on the canvas, whereby you match the wool to the pre-embossed colour. (i'm sure you have all seen this type before).
I'm looking for ideas please of how to attack this, like importing etc etc.
Imports work best if the design is not too detailed (especially in the background). The more details, the harder it is to be done.
If you want a large project, the first step is to decide on the count and then figure out from there the stitch dimensions. That will tell you the size of the image to import because the best imports work out as 1 pixel/1 stitch. I know, it makes the jpg look tiny but it works!
Then figure out the number of colors and try to keep that a reasonable number.
Remember to tweak! Remember that the computer sees colors differently than you do and that your chosen palette only has a limited number of shades of any one color so some of the colors may look strange. you can substitute yourself even with blends (imports won't blend).
Just work with it - play with it - you'll get what you want but it will take time.
