I want to make a crochet afghan that is 81" x 86". I plugged those numbers in the inch box; then I clicked on the stitches to see how many stitches I would need. The stitches were 1134 x 1204 that seems awfully high. What am I doing wrong? Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

What you need to know is how many stitches/inch. The numbers you have is 14 count -- 14 stitches/inch.

If you want this for a crochet project (not a cross-stitch project), you need to know how many stitches per inch you will need both rows and columns and adjust the numbers appropriately.

In fact, you can do that yourself - you don't need the program for that.

Just have 81 * x and 86 * y (x and y are the number of stitches/inch and "*" is "times")

Thank you Diane, that makes since. I was trying so hard to use the program I did not think to use the knowledge I have for crocheting as far as the number of stitches per inch.
