Greetings,
I have a pattern I want to continue working that was created in v7 (I'm pretty sure it was v7!). I use File>Open in 9/Standard to see the pattern. All the stitch symbols are changed and a couple of the colors are different. When I print the pallet-in-use list, it is missing all the non-full stitches. And a few color stitches are not even listed.
What can I do? Am I stuck with remapping all the data?
Thanks, Dave

The stitch symbols my be different if it is using a different symbol font. You can set that yourself it is is wrong. If colors themselves appear different, that may the way the program in interpreting the colors. If the numbers are different, I have no idea what would cause that.
Nor do I know why some colors are missing and the special stitches not showing.
If you still have 7 available, I suggest you try loading it (or maybe in the latest PatternViewer to see if the pattern has become corrupted.
PatternViewer is totally free but some earlier versions do not accept an "Open With" option. It will not load version 9 so that is a way to determine your version.
Beyond that, you might need to check with Mark.

I am also in touch with Jennifer at Cust Support. She says the same: I will install 7 and touch the files there; then open in 9.
As you suggest, I will try the Symbol Font. Am hoping the files are not broken, since I saved them at least once.
Thanks for the prompt reply! Dave

YAAHHOOOOeeeeee!! I'm stitching again! Sending this in case anyone is watching for outcome. I could not get the v4 pattern to convert correctly. I opened it in 7 (the stitch discrepancy existed at this point, but I proceeded anyway). To "touch" the file, I deleted a stitch then did Undo; then saved the file (it became v7 and would not open in v4). I then opened it in v9. The issue was still present, so I simply corrected the stitch symbols to what I wanted. It was interesting that most of the symbols I had used originally were not available in the symbol pallette in v9. If I see the Font List correctly, there are only a couple of symbol fonts, and they are not as interesting or comprehensive as the default. So, I remapped as needed and am back on track.
Thanks for the support, and the prompt replies! Dave

If it was a V4 pattern, rather than V7, I can imagine there were problems. How old IS that pattern? V7 has been out since at least 2004. That's the first version I used.
At least you got it working. I have no idea what forms of symbols were used on that old a pattern. There are now 3 PCStitch Symbol Fonts and the 3rd one is known to have some duplicaton. You can also use any other true type font installed on your computer.
