New to PCStitch
Have tried searching the forum to no avail.
I have times when I use the same color for full stitches and half stitches and maybe even back stitches. I just add the color multiple times and use different symbols. But I haven't found a way to indicate on the Information Sheet which symbol is used for which stitch type. Without that ability, I don't see how to translate this information to the pattern package.
Also, on the Information Sheet there is a table called Call Outs. I have searched the help file and the forum and can't find out what a "Call out" is?????
PCSstitch will be a great program once I can find out how to add that information, without it, the program isn't really usable

Harlan,
I am confused! I don't see the "Call out" section. Could you explain that more? I've been using this product for about 20 years (from version 6) and I've never seen that. I did search the PDF manual and found nothing.
As for the other questions -- backstitch colors are shown in a separate section of the information sheet. By default, it says how many stitches and an estimate of the amount of floss needed (much of the info is optional).
I've never thought of using a different symbol for the same color for different types of stitches. By default, a half stitch in the design shows as a diagonal stitch with the symbol in the corner in a tiny symbol.
Do do it the way you wish (a separate symbol shown as if it were a full stitch), you would just enter the information in the instruction area and that is printed with the information sheet.

Dragonlair, on my information sheet I have 3 sections: Legend, Blended Entries and Call Outs. I have 61 different colors. the Legend shows all 61, there are the correct number of blended, and 57 call outs. Nowhere on the Information Sheet does it differentiate between symbol vs stitch type.
Ok, I think I understand, if using the same symbol for all stitch types, the information sheet doesn't have to distinguish between stitch type. I'm just so used to seeing the various stich types having their own symbol. I am converting some old commercial patterns to electronic copies and with 61,600 stitches I better get used to this new way quickly, Ha.

Harlan,
Does your pattern also have petite stitches? I did some googling and found this:
A Petite Stitch consists of one small, full cross stitch placed in one of the four corners of a square; therefore, a square or block on your pattern (and your fabric) can contain up to four Petite Stitches. On the pattern legend, or key, they are listed under "Call-Outs.Aug 6, 2015
I've never used petite stitches so I had no idea.
If you're converting old printed patterns, be careful not to distribute them but to use them for yourself. I've done the same thing but most of my patterns were much simpler although some had a lot of blended stitches.
Remember that this kind of conversion can be used for any craft that uses gridded patterns like this -- including Filet Crochet, some Beadwork, Latch Hook, Plastic canvas (obviously) and even Diamond Drills. Again -- only for your own use because of copyright laws.

Dragonlair Nope, not one petite stitch.... I just find it strange that this program won't show the symbols for half stitches separately from full stitches on the info page. Pattern Maker had this feature way back in 2003. Another option would be to show the half stitch symbol larger on the pattern printout so we don't have to print at 4 stitches/inch to be able to see it.
