Because I find them difficult to locate at your local Arts & Crafts stores and when they do. They charge close to $5.00 for just one bookmark. I remember a while back. Some one would sell them in assorted arrangement in a pack. Now you only get one.
I just wondering if anyone know where to get them or just create my own. But, I like the different colors for bookmarks.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

Posted - 05/23/2010 : 07:40:25 Cross-Stitch bookmarks are funny things. They are very neat looking but not very practical. They are really too thick to be used AS bookmarks. They put a lot of pressure on the spine of the book if used - especially if a backing has been used.
You can create your own designs easily by using any small motif (or motifs) of the appropriate size. You can make your own bookmarks themselves using such as aida just as easily by cutting it down to the right size. by creating a solid backstitch border, you can fringe on all 4 sides and no backing is necessary (it's still too thick, though).
I've stitched bookmarks both ways - pre-made and self-made. both work fine. You just have to figure out a way to keep them from raveling all the way. The pre-made ones have edging (sometimes lace).
