I'm pretty new to cross stitching so I don't know all the possibilities. Aida is not the prettiest or softest fabric so I imagine its uses are somewhat limited, right? Can you only frame it? What else can aida be made into? Aida is so easy to work with, but I just don't know what to do with all these images I'm stitching!
Also, if you cut out the cross-stitched image, how do you "seal" the outer edges so it doesn't fray?

I actually like working with Aida. I rather like the stiffness. You can frame it with no problems. You can sew it into pieces or wrap/glue around cardboard or such to make ornaments (backed with felt). It makes very good bookmarks. You can sew a backstitch around the item and fringe to within one "block" of your stitching. It holds very well. You can also use such as the "nun's stitch" if you're concerned about further raveling.
You can use "fray stop". It's a liquid that you put on the fabric which seals it and prevents raveling.
In terms of stitching, edging or any other aspect of the craft, Aida is like any evenweave fabric and should be handled the same way.
