Posted - 05/31/2006 : 11:19:09 Try running Ad Aware as well as Spybot. They complement eachother nicely and regularly one will find what the other misses |

If your PCStitch is from a CD, you may have to uninstall it and then re-install it from the CD and then update from there. If it's a download version, you may need to work with M&R to make sure you can unlock it before you uninstall/re-install.
I agree with Mark that it looks like you have Adware/spyware hooked into it somehow. If Spybot didn't find anything, here's another idea. You can download Netscape for free. The newest version (8.1) has some security software. It found two adware items that Spybot and AVG missed! You might try that and just keep the Netscape around for cases that you need a second browser (I do all the time for my work on the EMS board).
Diane There is no such thing as a stupid question |

Posted - 05/10/2006 : 13:58:11 If you go into the Add/Remove Programs section of Control Panel, do you see anything listed that looks like the Adsoft Storebot program? If so, try deleting it there, then try the update again.

Posted - 05/10/2006 : 01:26:00 Hi Mark, Thanks for the suggestion. I ran sypbot and found no threats. What happens when I click on check for updates is I get an error that says preparing install. The feature you are trying to use is on a network resourse that is unavailable. Click ok to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package. After I go through the process several times the update popup shows up and I can check for updates. This happens every time I look for updates. Susan |

Posted - 05/09/2006 : 10:10:48 I have never heard of this. I think your computer may have some sort of Spyware installed on it. Try running a utility to clean it up like Spybot Search & Destroy, and it may take care of the problem.
