Hi
I'm new to PCstitch and i'm trying to figure out the program.
Since it is on english it can be difficulte some time.

Right now i'm doing a second Christmas calendar for my second daughter.
It's realy big, 81 x 116cm (32"x45") and 130 x 180 stitch.
So i wanted to do this different than the first one,in a mirror mode.

When i started i tought i could put in the pattern and use the "Mirror mode" in the program, since it's difficult to make the head work in mirror mode.
But things would not be so easy. I did't got the "Mirror mode" in the program to work.

It took 4 days to get my registration key to this forum and i could not sitt and wait and doing nothing.
So i force my brain to work in mirror mode and now i'm now almost finish with the pattern.
But it cost me a lot of tears and bad words when i found out time after time that the pattern was wrong with one stitch.
Lesson learn of this, it's not easy to make the brain to work in mirror mode but it can be done.

So my question is:
What and how shall i do to make the "Mirror mode" work??

Regards
Kristine

Kristine,

The helps are rather sparse on the mirror mode, aren't they?

I did some basic playing and what I discovered is when you set mirror mode, the first stitch you mark after that marks the "center" line. everything from that point is mirrored on the "other" half either horizontally or vertically from the center point you mark.

An alternative might me to do half your design. Then mark it, copy and paste and then do a flip (horizontal or vertical) of the pasted copy. That gives you the exact mirror image. If it is a regular pattern, you may have "mirrored" part of the middle of it. You can move your "copy" over the middle so it matches and you have your "other" half.

That's generally what I do. It's easier for me to keep straight what I am doing without "phantom" stitches appearing elsewhere away from my mouse!
