I imported a photo from a scanner, but when I viewed the pattern it was very grainy and indistinct. I don't know how to adjust the pattern to make the picture clear. If someone knows how to fix this I would appreciate any help.

This is usually a scaling issue. Try increasing the size of your pattern in stitches. You need to get your pattern size in stitches as close as possible to the size of the image you are importing in pixels.
