Hi team,

I've been an avid user of PCStitch for many, many years. A question just came up in a conversation, "When did PCStitch actually start?" I remember using it from about its third or fourth iteration, but I can't find any other info. Can anyone list the year with each version number, please?

It might be of interest to other members to see how long our favourite software has been doing the rounds.

Thanks in advance

Tobias (the Latch Hook Rug Maker)

You can! Check the print options. I use black symbols but there is an option at the bottom of the list for Floss Color Symbols.

It would be great to be able to print charts in colored symbols

Thanks for this info, Diane, it has demonstrated the longevity of the program to my conversational questioner. They were of the opinion that Cross Stitch programs were a recent development, and I had laughed at the suggestion knowing the long duration of my own use of PCStitch. I was then asked to provide evidence from a third party - which you have provided.

Thanks again

I don't know if I can give the actual dates of release for all but I believe version 7 came out in 2004.

I've beta tested from 8 on so I have some idea.

I remember having problems with 8 and the "large font" on Vista so that is some idea. And 9 was the first to support Windows 7, I think.

The old Pattern Library pieces included a somewhat restricted version of Version 6 and by Vista, they were a royal pain to install. I remember going through hoops on that. It's much better that they are now part of the product.

I am also curious. I would also like to know.

One point - the PCStitch Pattern Viewer has not been updated for several generations. I don't think it recognizes the .pat format after version 8.
