I think it would be nice if the save button would shade out (only when you actually save), so one would know it went through ;)

It's really no different than any other windows application. You can always go look at where you keep the files and look for a file with a time-stamp of when you just hit Save and a .bpt file that has the time-stamp of the earlier file.

I have it set for 30 minute auto-saves so checking the .bpt file time wouldn't help me much.
