just imported a photo to be done but I need some colours that I cant get in the UK. how can I change it to only UK colours

From any pattern (even a "dummy one", select the colors and symbols you wish to use. Then select the Tools tab at the top. Under there is "Palette Options". Select that and then Save Palette. Give it a name (maybe something like "DMC UK"). Once saved, you can select that palette when you import your image along with other parameters.

The only thing you can do is to create your own custom "UK-Only" floss palette and have the import use that.
