When printing a chart is it possible to have the picture of the design at the beginning, the only options I can see are the chart is a pdf and the picture is a separate jpg.

There are ways to convert that jpg to a PDF and merge the two PDFs into one. It does take an extra step and 3rd party software (even free) to do such.

The actual pattern is NOT a PDF but can be printed as such. The actual pattern is saved as a .pat file.
