I've been working on making my own patterns and I've noticed that the back stitching snaps at certain angles. Sometimes The angle is correct, but in order to get that angle, I have to make the line too long. Is there a way to change the degrees that the backstitching snaps to? |

The backstitching, because of the restrictions of the fabric for which it is intended, is designed to connect to a stitch at the 4 corners, the midway along each side and the middle of the stitch. Those are the only places where a stitch is likely to be made with backstitching. For one to land in between, such as a backstitch that is 2 stitches long and one wide, crosses between stitches at 2/3 along the way but there is no way to actually stitch that way so a double-long stitch is needed.
Even with these restrictions, the appearance of the backstitching smooths out if you back out and view it. That removes the "blockiness" of the stitching itself, too. That's the nature of the beast.

I don't know if it will work but try turning OFF "Flexible Backstitching" under Pattern Properties > Stitch Options.
I think the "snap" you're referring to are caused by the software trying to work with the actual physical characteristics of either evenweave or Aida.
