I just opened up a pattern I have been working on for 2 weeks and it is destroyed. All the outlining and french knots are offset from the regular stitches.They are all shifted to the right. Is there a way to line them back up? Why would this happen???? I can't use this software if it destroys my work!

You might try opening the backup copy of the pattern - .bpt extension instead of .pat. Or try copying it again from wherever you had it.
It sounds like your pattern file was corrupted - you might want to do a virus check.
If the colors are only used for backstitches, you can remove THAT color, then re-create it. Or you can try highlighting to make them easier to see.
As for backstitches, I know that they are one one stitch length at a time. For the purposes of patterns, I make them as LOOOONG as I can (before any turn) because you can't see any difference. Only the floss usage estimate is affected. It makes it easier to design and put in backstitches.

Thanks, Diane, I already tried closing & reopening. The pattern was fine all day. I had even started stitching it. I exported a copy to my desktop of it before I closed & the copy was fine...then I closed & left for an hour and reopened it and it was a mess. Is there a way to erase all the outlines at as a whole or will I have to do each one separately? I have carpal tunnel & it's going to take a couple of hours to erase plus way more to re-draw.
Is there a way to take the copy I exported and send it back to the program?

I've never seen this effect. If they appeared correct before but are offset now, it may be a problem with the display. I suggest closing the pattern AND the software without saving the pattern and trying to open it again.
I've been using every version of PCStitch from version 7 with a few views of version 6.
It may also be that you accidentally placed the stitches wrong. If you have the zoom too low, it is difficult to see that there are multiple starting points for backstitches and french knots. You can start the stitch from other than the edge or the center.
