Do I need to use some other editing software to import a graphic with words/ photo to a cross stitch pattern with pcstitch 11? |

All you need to import any image to PCStitch is something to create a .jpg file. Other formats may be possible but I'm not sure. To get the best starting point for a pattern, make the image TINY -- make it the same dimensions in pixels as you want the final pattern in stitches. That gives a 1/1 ratio of pixel to stitch so it's a clearer conversion to color.
Even then, the result will be rough. The main reason is the computer sees the image differently than you do. It sees it pixel by pixel and coverts those to as close a color as it can. Your eye tends to gloss over minor changes in color. Even if there seems to be a distinct change in color from one pixel to the next, the computer will often blur the edges with other colors.
This is just the first step -- it's YOUR part to change that rough image to a fine pattern. Use your imagination - don't be afraid!
