I can't seem to get a clear image on the design grid. Do I have to change pixels. If so how do I do that.

What are you trying to do? My "design grid", do you mean importing an image to create a pattern?

If that is the case, what you need to do at the very start is to make your image TINY. It should be the same dimensions in pixels as the desired pattern will be in stitches. For example, if the desired pattern is to be an 8 x 10 inch pattern in 14 count fabric, then you need to make the image as close as possible to 112 (8x14) x 140 (10x14) pixels. You use external software such as paint or Irfanview to achieve this BEFORE you import the image. It will look very very small but it's the best case to create the starting point of a pattern. That makes a 1/1 ratio of pixels to stitches.

Also note that what you get will be blurred and will have a lot of confetti stitches and will never look as clean as what you see in the image. The computer sees the image far differently than you do. That is why this is just the start. There will ALWAYS be the need to "tweak" (adjusting colors, stitches, adding colors, removing colors ...) to create a really good pattern. The import is just the first step!
