Posted - 10/01/2018 : 18:06:26 hi folks, I purchased PCStitch11 and the import screen does not function properly. I tried to work with PCStitch directly but ultimately they could not understand the issue and refunded me my money. But perhaps some of you have experienced and/or resolved this issue.

when I browse to select a picture, the import screen never fully loads. The picture I have provided is the full screen, there is no scrollbars or data off screen. what you see is what I get. then I'm stuck. I think the stitch and whatnot data may exist below the picture but there is no way to scroll to it. About every 10th try randomly it'll load properly where I can see the stitch count and other settings. The pic in the example did load properly randomly once and I was able to edit the settings and import it but mostly I get the messed up screen.

Posted - 10/02/2018 : 13:29:31 By the size being part of the problem, I meant more that you would most likely get a better initial conversion to a pattern if the image were tiny as I described. Unless you are going to do a pattern that's 1600 stitches wide, your image is more likely to cause confusion. Also, remember that even though your image appears to have very sharp changes in color, the result from the conversion will NOT show that, even in the best of cases. you will need tweaking.
The font issue is independent of PCStitch but is a Windows issue. The question is, did you make a change in the Windows Display setting to enlarge the size of the text (menus and such) of your computer. It's quite common to need to do that with the larger screens and larger resolution. The result is tiny text! Under the control panel (the actual placement and method may change based on the version you are using), there is a Display option and you can change the font size. On my system (Windows 7), the options are "Smaller (default)" is 100%, "Medium" is 125%, and "Larger" at 150%. There is also an option to set it at a custom level. In many cases, going larger than the default may cause some programs to display menus or even lose some data on some Windows. That appears to be the problem you are having which is why I mentioned it.
You should be able to install the program on a second computer that is under your control. The only issue would be the registration code. I have version 11 installed on both my desktop and laptop computers. I'm not sure how you transferred the program. You can't just copy the installed folder but you should be able to copy the install executable to a second machine and run that. Then register it to the second computer. I need more information as to what you are doing to give more detailed help.
Good Luck,

I would have to disagree that the size of the image is the problem. I have the same issue with really tiny images where the menus simply never pop up.
can you explain further what you mean about font? All I've done is selected import, navigated to my picture and selected it, there were no menus to select a font size. if this is a general setting elsewhere outside of the import feature, please let me know.
Lastly, how do i transfer PCStitch to another machine? I tried moving the install file via harddrive but it gives me an error (assuming so i can't give this paid program to all my friends without a key). how would i try it on another machine legitimately? (mind buying it again)

First of all, that image is way too big and that may be part of the issue. To get a good import, the image should be the same dimensions in pixels as your desired project. For example, if you want an 18 count project that is 24" X 14", then you want a pixel size that is 432 X 252 (243 would keep the exact aspect ratio from your image) because that is the stitch count size.
Another possible issue is High DPI processing. If you are using a font size greater than 100%, then that has been known to cause issues in the display of portions of the screen.
I would suggest you try it on another machine with a different display to see if that might be an issue -- display driver.
Just some ideas. I know there were issues in earlier versions of parts of the display not being visible if High DPI is an issue. You might try viewing the properties of either the main program (.exe) or the shortcut and select the compatibility tab to tell it to ignore high DPI scaling. I use that all the time with games. Probably 80% (or more) of my games have that set.
Good Luck,
