Created my image in Photoshop and imported... Looks great.

1. Somehow it set a black area to very dark Navy Blue... Can I change all of one color?

2. Is it possible to select all colors in a region and remove them? I want that to be my fabric color not stitched? I suppose I could try to remove in Photoshop, right?

Excellent... thanks.

The color was a very dark grey in my Photoshop... and needed to be either that or black. The final would have looked bad as navy.

The transparency worked perfectly, I re-edited my image and re-imported ;)

And the replace worked just fine. Thanks!

Remember that the computer sees color differently than you do. What you saw as black, it obviously saw as dark blue.

You can easily select to remove all of one color. However, if you're talking about the background, be careful that that same color is not used in the foreground. You can tell by turning on "highlight".

To highlight one color, right-click that color in the palette panel (below by default). Then select "Highlight Entry". That one color's stitches will show boldly on the pattern with all other colors pale and light. If you do that for a main background color and that color is used in the foreground, you will see easily the highlighted areas in the foreground. You can still remove the color but you will then have to select that color and manually put it back in the foreground areas.

To remove a color, right-click on the color and select remove. If you have marked of (boxed) an area, you will have an option to remove from selected area or the entire pattern.

The idea of marking an area allows you to remove the main background color without removing ALL and having to re-define the color. Just mark a big area of the background that does not include any instances of the color in the foreground and select to remove that color from the background.

If you wish to replace a color, us use a similar trick. Select (click) on the color you wish to be replaced. Go to the Available Colors panel and select the color you want and then click on Replace. The color you originally selected and its symbol will now be the new color -- ALL of them.

Note that importing from a photo is just the first step. Even removing all of the dark blue background will not be enough. There will be "shaded" colors and other confetti stitches scattered all over the place. Those have to be manually taken care of or totally removed as the dark blue. That is the "tweaking" phase. A raw import should NEVER be the final result because the computer sees things differently. You must then adjust colors, edges, shadings ... to be what you want them to be. Take your time. It will be well worth it!
