I found a picture that I think is really cute. HOWEVER, trying to 'define' or 'sharpen' the picture is a challenge. Is there a way to make the imported image more clear? I'm trying to draw the backstitches, but there are some parts of the picture where I don't know exactly where to put those lines. ANY SUGGESTIONS???

Thank you

Kay Lynn,

You have enough posts -- go to my profile and send me an email. When I reply, you'll get my address. You won't see it until I reply.

I'll be glad to try to help. However, I make no promises. I'm just a volunteer user. I've used bits and pieces of PCStitch since version 7 -- back in 2004! I'm not a professional user but I'm not afraid to click a few things if I'm not sure. It won't bite me. Just stick it's tongue at me if I do something it doesn't like.

Diane, do you have an email that I can contact you? I want to show you what I have so you can give me some expert advice.

Thanks,
Kay Lynn

The best way to sharpen an image is to make it so that the mapping between pixels and stitches is 1-1 as much as possible. That means, an 8X10 design using 14 ct fabric would be 112 X 140 stitches. Make the original image that is imported 112 X 140 pixels as closely as possible.

Also, make the background as simple as possible. That makes the foreground sharper.

Any other "sharpness" and special stitches like backstitches have to be placed based on what YOU think is best. There are NO rules. Anyplace you want extra clarity (like along a jaw line or along the nose in a face) would be where I personally would put backstitches. Just go with your gut and heart -- it's an ART, not just a tool.

Good Luck,

Diane

I am glad that there are colored fabrics. They come in handy to help reduce the amount of floss colors. Plus they also are great for helping the image stand out even more.
