Running PCS 9.00.010 on Vista 32.
I'm trying (without success) to create a sizeable, moveable straight stitch -- like a backstitch, but one long stitch (for flower stamens or butterfly legs). If I define it as a speciality stitch, it appears that the only size/length the stitch can be is what it's defined as (i.e. not stretchable) and that the only rotatability the stitch has is 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees.
What I'm aiming for is the flexibility that the backstitch definition has; am I SOL?

You cannot make such a stitch as a specialty stitch. All you need to do is turn on backstitch and make it LOOOOONG! You do each stitch manually. With a backstitch, all you need to do is point to the start and the end and it makes a straight line between those points. It does not have to be any given length.

Right, but then the legend will show it as backstitch instead of a long stitch.

True but the only difference between a backstitch and a long stitch is the length. If all of one color are one way or another, just follow the floss usage for backstitch for that purpose.
When I create patterns, I create the backstitches as long as I can because it keeps the file size down. The floss usage is just an estimate anyway.

Yes, but I'm creating professional patterns and to have the instructions state that it's a backstitch instead of a straight stitch (or if I run into a case where there are some back- and straight-stitches in the same color required for a pattern) ... they'll be giving _wrong_ information to my customers.

 You can use a different style for long stitches and comment it in the pattern instructions.

I've got a couple of issues with providing the comments in the instructions to overcome what I perceive as a deficiency in the program:
1) If a pattern uses the same color for both back- and straight-stitch, there will be one symbol for both types of stitches. Granted, this could be noted in the instructions; see #3.
2) Even with a color dedicated to the straight stitch, the legend will identify that it's a backstitch line; see #3.
3) I believe that providing an overriding comment in the instructions looks unprofessional and could lead to confusion on my customers' part. It's that in one area in the info sheet (the legend), the line represents a backstitch and in another area (the instructions) I've got to say "nevermind, the line is *really* a straight stitch.
