Running PCS Pro 9.00.009 on Vista-32.
The symbols in the subject font at code points 108 and 109 (decimal, 0-offset) appear to be the same. The symbol looks like <->.
The symbols at code points 56 and 120 also appear to be the same. This symbol looks kind of like an N (a capital "n").

Cindy,
You're right! I Your last number (120) is wrong, I think you mean 220 but otherwise you are right that there are two duplicates.
That's something for Mark and/or Troy to fix in their definition of PCStitch Symbols 3.

Oops, found another one. The symbols at code points 57 and 91 (decimal, 0-offset) are also the same. The symbol looks like:
"/|\" "/|\" "/|\"

Here's one more ... the symbols at code points 43 and 136 (decimal, 0-offset) are essentially identical (they look like a big *). While they look subtly different in the program, I can tell you from experience that they look identical if they're both used in the same pattern!

Yet another one (running PCS Pro 9.00.011).
The symbols at code points 128 and 157 (decimal, 0-offset) are both filled-in hour-glass shapes.
There are also two symbol-pairs that are too close in shape to be distinguishable in the same design:
Code points 62 (vertical bar) and 75 (lower-case L). Code points 41 (circle) and 78 (lower-case O).
Any chance of this font being updated to correct these 7 duplications? I'm using this as my primary font and it's getting difficult to keep track.

There are multiple duplications in PC Stitch Symbols 3 font. When I contacted the programmers, I recieved a response from Troy, who basically said they were happy with the font (despite this thread having brought this issue up a YEAR ago). In fact, his exact words to me were "I don’t think there are many, if any duplicates in that font." So, he is agknowledges there MAY be duplicates (and we know there are several) but offers no solution or indication that the problem may be resolved.
In addition, what about the issue of PC Stitch Symbols 3 not having enough characters to cover the max number of colors you can use in a pattern. If you can make a pattern with over 400 DMC floss colors, why do we not have over 400 symbols? Once the symbols font gets used up, it plugs in whatever other random font you have on your system which isn't very practical or useful. I run into problems with starting my pattern with the max number of colors, then reducing the colors to something managable, then changing all symbols to the PC Stitch font, in which case you get even MORE duplicates. A huge pain in the rear if you don't notice all of them until you are half done your project.
You would think, considering the cost of this program, better customer service would be offered and the bugs worked out after this many versions. |

With Pro, you can have symbols of more than one symbol font. You can mix/match how you want to get the full number of symbols. I don't think any Windows font has 400 characters. I think the max is probably 256.
