Based on a problem that I have been having and Mark has been working hard to solve, I thought we should know if others are having a similar problem.
How many of you are using Pro under Windows Vista and have the Pattern Piece Libraries Installed?
I would like to know the following:
What version of Vista are you using? I'm using 32 bit Ultimate
What level of Pro are you using? I am using the latest (as of 08/27/07) is 8.03.08?
What Pattern Piece Libraries do you have installed? I have all 12 Libraries but have only successfully installed volume 1 - Cuddly Things
Did you install your Libraries using download or CD? I installed using CD
Any other information you feel is pertinent.
Just to let you know what is behind this question. I can successfully install and use the first CD. The second CD (Dogs and Cats) causes a nasty error from PRO and then Pro is not usable. Mark was able to find a way to eliminate thr error in Pro but then none of the panels (such as symbols, available colors, palette, libraries, browser ...) are visible nor can they be made visible. To add to the problem, the Dogs and Cats CD will not UNinstall.
I have checked out several other CDs and some will install and uninstall but not only do they not allow Pro to work while installed, an uninstall does not bring Pro back to working condition. Volume 12 (Distinctive Alphabets) is another CD that will not uninstall. I got discouraged and 7 of the CDs have NOT been tested. I'm afraid to do it after having 4 out of 5 fail!
The only way to get Pro working each time is to use Windows Restore Point procedure and back off to before you installed one of the faulty Library installs.
Please help us. Have any of you had this happen and just restored and gave up without reporting it? Do any of you have the CDs and just not installed them? Since Mark cannot reproduce my problem, we don't know if it is something unique to my machine or is it a general Vista incompatibility in these CDs.

With help from Mark and cyber-friends on other boards, I have the libraries installed now.
The problem appears to have been something in the registry. I had to remove every piece of software I had from M&R Tech (including 2 versions of PCStitch, The one library I had working and Plastic Canvas Design Studio).
It was a tedious two day process because some of the software would not uninstall!
It's all over now. There are still some strange things here and there (such as in Program Features) but the key point is I have all 12 Library CDs installed - 41 Libraries and 90 Stitched fonts and ALL are accessible from PCStitch 7 and PCStitch Pro!
A big hug and huge thanks to Mark for helping me with this!
If anybody else runs into similar problems, I think I have the experience to give some tips on how to work it out. I've had PLENTY of practice!
