Hi! I'm brand new to PCSpro and am trying to import an image. I've followed the Tutorial and I've tried every change imaginable including going back to my original picture and resizing it but each time the imported image is very distorted and lacking detail. What am I missing? Thanks!
Are you importing the image to "same" size stitch wise as it is in file i.e. does your desired stitch count match with the amount pixels in your image? (For example: if you have an image which is 150x 400 pixels you get the best importing result if you import it as a pattern sized 150 x 400 stitches.)
Do you limit your colours too much? Have you tried to change the colour count?
One thing which comes to mind is what cloth count you give to the software in Pattern Properties. If you want to make it look more detailed it could be an idea to design and stitch it on more dense fabric than the default setting is.

Yes, I tried changing the stitch/pixel count to match exactly and increased the number of colors to 150. Neither made much difference if any at all. I'll try changing the cloth count size. Thanks!
If you import into a pattern that is 374 x 225 stitches, you should be getting all of the detail that is available. It will start to look a little blocky because stitches are so much bigger than pixels, but you should get all of the information.
The pattern is rather blocky. How would I know that it's ok? How small of a picture, pixel wise can I import and keep the detail? If I keep the pattern the size it is now, it's going to be too big. I got so caught up in the fact that the pattern looked so distorted. I obviously need more time to work on this than I have right now but it's a challenge I'm letting go of! Thanks for you help!
If you go with those stitch counts you could consider to stitch it on higher count fabric (or over one on 25 or 28 count) to obtain less blocky, more detailed result.
In general: lower the stitch count goes more detail you lose so, if I was you, I'd try change of stitching technique rather than making it small stitch count wise.
