HI all,
Fairly new to PCStitch Pro, and have noticed in many patterns there are hundreds of blank spaces here and there all over pattern when viewing in symbols (usually all one colour). There is colour there when viewed in solid blocks. Was told I have to fix all these blanks up by hand. I find it difficult to tell exactly which colour it is as there are many close colours, and it's very difficult to find all the blanks amongst so many other stitches! Not too happy to pay so much for software only to have to spend hours adjusting a pattern.

If you move your mouse over the top of one of the squares with the color in question, you should see the color name and description in the status bar. You can also use the color selector tool (eye dropper icon) to select the color, then change it's symbol.

| What do you do if I have printed out the pattern? How do I know where that certain color on the pattern? There are seven empty squares. Since when do we have to make our own ID codes for the colors. Do I have to reprint it again? Why doesn't it do it on it's own? How do I know when PCStitch Pro will not know what digit to use |

Anytime you create or download a pattern in any way, you can view it without printing. If you are just talking about 7 blocks, then you can view and mark your printed pattern by hand what is needed.
If you want to know where a given color is used, right click on the color in the palette and select "Highlight Color". That will cause that one color to be easily seen in the window and all other colors are dimmed. You can scroll or change the zoom to see what you want. Highlight will stay in operation even if you change colors selected. It will just change what is highlted. You must specifically turn off the highlight mode.
For our own patterns, it has always been our responsibility to select the symbol we wish to use to represent every color. I am guessing that is what you mean by ID codes. This is nothing new. If you do not like the symbols used, then you can change them at any time.
Diane There is no such thing as a stupid question |

FWIW, it appears that this issue was resolved by PCS Pro 9.00.012.
I ran into the same problem on earlier PCS Pro 9 releases when I imported a picture that had a large amount of white; there were blocks within that white area that were not assigned _any_ color. When I retried the picture using 9.00.012, every block in the design was assigned a color (and thus a symbol).

Oopsie! My last post is a nevermind.
I've got another JPG that, when I import, has a collection of blocks that have _no_ color assigned. If anyone cares, I can send the file and the attributes I used on the import to recreate the issue.

I have the same problem. There are stitches there when veiwed in Virtual stitches, however no colour symbol has been applied when viewing it in symbols. How to I make my own symbols up to fill in these blank ones?

Figured it out by myself. For anyone else that has this problem, this is what you do. Down the bottom of the screen you'll see Available colours, symbols, and Floss palette. Click on the "Symbols" and you will see a heap of symbols appear. The ones that are coloured or shaded are the one currently being used in the pattern that you are working on. The ones with the white background have not been designated. With your Computer window showing the pattern in Symbols, use the eye dropper to find the blank area colour. (Click on the blank area with the eye dropper and you will see the colour shown in the Floss pallette) Choose one of the unused symbols for that colour. It will then load that symbol for that colour. Do the same for anything else that is missing. Then go back to the pattern in Virtual Stitches and make sure nothing has changed.
I hope I have helped with this explanation!!!
