No matter what I do I can't get the colors to match my picture. Am I doing something wrong? My horse is not gray, brown, blue or any of the other colors that it is giving me as a main color. She is white with dark freckles! Help!
Remember that the computer sees color differently than you do. It just scans the definition of the individual pixels and does the best it can. Also, for any given floss palette, there are a limited number of appropriate shades. If you specify too large a number for the floss limit, you encourage this sort of mismatch.
Another possible source of problem is if your image to pattern match is wrong (too far off from 1 pixel to one stitch) then the computer is trying to decide ONE color when there may be many colors involved in the various pixels. If only one pixel is under consideration, there is less confusion.
No matter what you do, there will be some colors you just don't agree with. That is normal and expected. The pattern you get from a conversion is never the "final" pattern. You will always need to do some "tweaking" to get what you want. Expect that and enjoy yourself. That is what makes it a good pattern and what makes it YOURS!
