When I try to open the floss palette, the window is not visible. I can tell that something has opened, because it prevents me from clicking on anything and makes the little windows ding when I try, but it's invisible. When I open the view to see all my open windows, it is also not visible. I am able to exit the phantom window by pressing escape. The same thing happens with the window for importing a picture. I am able to select a picture and then it opens the ghost window. I have tried all the shortcuts for maximizing and moving a window. In task manager, it does not show a separate popup window. I have restarted my computer. I am on the latest version of PCStitch on windows 11. I've tried everything I can think of. I'm so frustrated please help!! |

The first thing I can suggest is to totally uninstall your PCStitch. If possible, use something like Revo-Uninstall to remove registration items. Note, there is a free version of Revo and even a "portable" one that only requires an extraction from a zip rather than a true install.
After you uninstall it, reboot your PC. Then re-install PCStitch.
I have never heard of your problem before. If this doesn't work, try contacting Mark. He's the only one that can help.
Good Luck,

Thank you!!!
I did try the quick way first by just doing the windows uninstall and re-installing, which did not remedy the issue. After I did the revo-uninstall and removed all the registry items and folders and re-installed, it is working normal again!
Thank god my patterns are stored outside the pcstitch file area though, cause I didn't think of that and would have deleted them all in that process. So if anyone else has this issue, make sure all your pattern files are in a different area!! |

Years ago (I think it was an early version of PCStitch 8), I had a problem with those extra pattern libraries. Neither Mark nor I could figure out what was wrong. I didn't have access to Revo at that time so I went through the registry searching for anything to do with PCStitch and/or M&R Tech after I had uninstalled the product. I manually deleted every record I could find.
After I did that, a reinstall fixed the errors I was seeing. That's how I know that even though you didn't do anything that should have affected what you're trying to do, registry entries can be corrupted!
Knock-on-wood -- I've never seen anything like that since and now those pattern libraries are part of the base install so you won't see anything like I saw way back when.
Remembering makes me feel OLD!!!! Maybe it's because I am.
