I just purchased PCStitch Pro and downloaded the Windows XP installation file. When I try to run the installation program, an error pops up stating that there is an initialization error and only allows me to terminate the installation. I downloaded the file to a different location a second time and tried installing the software with my firewall turned off but received the same error. Can someone provide assistance with getting the Windows XP installation file to run?

I'm getting the same error message (The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005) Click on OK to terminate the application) trying to open PC Stitch Pro in Windows 7. Old computer ran Windows XP and I have had no problems downloading and running PCS Pro. Hoping someone can solve this issue.

Janet,

I suggest you use the PCStitch contact us form and explain what you have done and what message you are receiving. Include your operating system, processor speed and computer memory setup. You should be able to get an answer promptly. However, it won't be until at least Monday most likely.

I do not think using the Windows 7 version of the download will help. It may be that you are inadvertently getting that version and that is the problem. Vista and Windows 7 have a different configuration than XP and trying to get it to work on XP may just cause more problem.

I'm sure Mark can help you figure this out.

Good Luck,

Diane

I tried rebooting and reloading with no luck. I deleted the previous downloads and redownloaded another time. I get the same error. Do you think the Windows 7 version of the installation file would work on a Windows XP machine?

All programs have been shut down, and computer rebooted. I receive "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005) Click on OK to terminate the application. Now what do you think I should do?

The first thing I would do is reboot and then try to re-install. If it fails, write down EXACTLY what the error message is. We can't help without knowing what error is occurring.

Also, shut down all user-loaded programs (such as Excel, Word, Firefox ...). Don't worry about applications loaded during boot, just the ones you've opened yourself.

Please post if it worked or the error message you get after trying these hints.
