Import problem...System Error...

When I click on import this message comes up and then the pcstitch program completely freezes up. I have to go to task manager and end task in order to get out of the program.

System Error: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

What do I do?

I have been beta testing windows 7 for some time and would like to make the switch to 64 bit. Is it suported?

So far it seems to be ok, it installs and runs under WoW64 (32 bit emulation).

Mycraftz,

There is a new version of PCStitch Standard (now also version 9) and an upgrade to Pro will be available any day. If I remember right, both are designed to work under Windows 7 (due out in under a week). As for the support of the 64 bit version - I just don't know. However, it should work.

What was the issue, I currently have a windows 7 64 bit and want to migrate from Vista. It would help to know what was done to fix your issues.

If there is going to be a new release with support for 64 bit then I will wait before migrating the applicaiton.

I have to agree that Mark is great in correcting problems like this. I worked with him for several weeks 2 years ago trying to get the 12 Pattern Library CDs to work with Vista. We finally succeeded. Just today he helped me with a licensing problem with 2 of the series of products to my satisfaction.

Mark is a great help!

I had the same issue with import errors, see earlier messages. Working with Mark Miller the issue has been resolved, at least for me. The solution took several trial changes. He sent me an update to the program yesterday and everything is working now. I know he is aware of others with the same issues so I would imagine there will be an official update issued soon. Mark was great to work with and is very knowledgable and professional.

I don't have 64 bit Vista (just 32 bit) so I'm going to have to let you and Mark work this one out. I have no idea why a thorough "punt" as I did would not work for you.

I have uninstalled both versions, deleted all resistary entries, deleted all remaining folders/files, deleted all temp files, deleted all download files. Reinstalled Pro version - still cannot import. Install version 7 - can import to version 7. Installed all Pattern libraries from version 6 & 7 without problem. Sent email to "contact us" for assistance. Have also ordered Pro version CD to reinstall from and registar. Could be an issue due to HP Vista preinstalled version. Thanks

Note - whenever you install a program like this, you are given the option to choose WHERE to put it. In general, I do not allow programs to be put in Program Files (normal default location) and even when I do, I direct it to an area where I know it's one of my installs (such as a Hobbies sub-folder under Program Files).

I do have all my M&R Tech products in Program Files (under a Hobbies folder) because of problems when I first got Vista. We never did figure out why it didn't work.

If you are having install problems AND you know something about PCs, you might want to consider my "punt". I uninstalled EVERYTHING from M&R Tech and then went into the registry and deleted anything remaining that referred to M&R and then re-installed everything. That finally worked (for the most part). I still have some products that don't show in Program Features (Vista version of Add/Remove) but the products work!

However, I DO NOT recommend playing with the Registry unless you are experienced. It can be very tricky and you can cause your entire system to fail if you move/delete/change the wrong thing.

I have the same problem with not being able to import into PC Stitch Pro version 9 on a Vista 64 bit. I also have Standard version 7 installed on same computer and it imports fine. One thing I noticed is that the Standard version is installed in a directory named Programs and the Pro version is in Program Files (x86). Since I have both programs I import into the standard version and then open same file in the pro version and it has worked fine so far. Does not solve problem, but provides a work a

When I first got this computer (PCStitch Pro was still version 8 at that time), I had a great deal of difficulty getting most of the Pattern Library disks to install properly. I worked with Mark for several weeks on the problem. He had no idea why it worked for him but not for me. Every time I installed certain disks, it would lock up PCStitch and even a re-install didn't work. I had to to do a system restore to back out the install to get PCStitch back.

I finally took the drastic step of uninstalling ALL M&R Tech products and then going into the registry and deleting anything that referenced M&R Tech or it's products. Then I reinstalled my products. That finally did the trick. SOMETHING of that sort seems to be happening to you. SOMETHING in the registry is hosed up royally. However, unless you are an experienced computer person, I DO NOT recommend you play with the registry. It is a very tricky and potentially dangerous operation. My "Punt" worked. You may need a similar punt.

Intel Core Quad Cpu Q8200
It is a 64 bit operating system.

Your program may work on your computer but it does not work on mine.
I have tried everything all of you people have said and now I can't even access it at all. I have completely uninstalled it from my computer and had contacted customer service yesterday and as of yet have still not heard back.

Complaints such as this do not belong on this forum. We are not equipped to handle demands as you just made. You need to work through the main "Contact Us" point.

I don't know what it is on your system, what version of Windows you are running or what else is running. I do know that it works like a charm on my Vista32 Ultimate SP2 computer with 2 MB memory, and 2.4 GHz processor.

I'm not sure how many posts you need to do that. Try sending it to him directly at mmiller@pcstitch.com

I got the address from one of his other posts.
