I have been trying to download the new update. It seems to download but when the program starts to run I get the following message:
`PCStitchPro9UpdateS.ses has stoppped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Not only did the update take this time, it solved a problem I've been having opening files. Thanks Mark.

Yep. Mine worked too. Rar
Dragonlair Posted - 01/07/2009 : 17:32:42
Yep! That solved the problem.

Also, your answer that a full download and install should work is good info in case of download problems in the future.

The way this day is going, I'm glad for simple fix. My day started when I got my morning paper and found it to be YESTERDAY'S paper! It took about 3 hours after that to actually get the correct paper!

Sorry about this! The update file was corrupted during the upload process to our file server. We have posted a new file, and it should be working now.

.010 is the version I have. Interestingly it says its going to download 18.5mb but the file it creates is 21.. But it does look like a reaonable exe, but even if pc stitch pro is closed and I try running it I get the same error.. Its almost like the exe wasnt uploaded in binary or something.

I havent tried the trial thing, not hugely desparate for the update I guess..

I even tried running Pro in Administrator mode. It won't work. I don't even get an error message. I just get the windows window that the update program has failed.

I have sent a message to Mark Miller and asked the other question of the full download and install from scratch.

I expect there will be another update very soon!

I can't update to .011! I'm not even getting any error message to report. It's just aborting and closing PCStitch. On the plus side, it appears to be so early on in the update process that I am simply getting an error message that it is shutting down PCStitch and I am still OK at .010!

I'm sending an email to Mark. Maybe he can figure this out. I'll include a link to this thread.

That may work. As far as I know, the only difference between the trial version and the full version is the existance of the unlock code. As you have already installed the unlock code, the full download and install should continue to use it.

Under the circumstances, It's worth a try.

I see that .011 is ready so I will try it. I hope it continues to work for me.

Its not my firewall, or my AV, or windows defender.. As my firewall is a hardware box, and the download downloads something, its not my AV as I turned it off (as I do for all updates), and its not windows defender as I dont run it.

Whats more likely is that those of us who tried early and perhaps it hadnt finished uploading correctly or such are now stuck with a half done version and its not overwriting correctly as part of the download

Would it just be easier to download the trial and install over the top?

Ditto here, running 32-bit Vista. Clicking "Check for Updates" indicates that 9.00.011 is available. It downloads successfully, then when I press "Finish" to install the file I get the message "PCStitchPro9UpdateS.exe has stopped working" with the following 'Problem signature':

I can't load it either (same error message) and there's nothing wrong with my firewall.
Dragonlair Posted - 01/06/2009 : 08:01:48
If you're having problems with the downloads, I suggest you check your firewall and anti-virus. I use Windows Defender for the firewall (it was part of the system) and I've not had any problems. I use Avira (free) for anti-virus. I refuse to use Symantec (huge issues with the way it takes over), McAfee (blocks too many sites on its own), and AVG (too many false positives) - all three are huge resource hogs!

Still doing the same for me, it says its going to download 18.5mb downloads something, and then comes up with the same error
Dragonlair Posted - 01/05/2009 : 20:07:49
I'm running 32 bit Vista Ultimate. I had trouble downloading the first one but that was because they were updating the site as I was trying to download the program! After that, I've had no problems downloading, installing, or running PCStitch Pro 9.
