Posted - 11/26/2008 : 16:17:32 Is there an easy way to change *all* symbols for a pattern's current palette from one font to another? So far it's been a major pain in the you-know-what because when I click on a palette color, it changes to its current font symbol and I have to change the font and then choose a new symbol from the font I actually want. It would be one thing if I had 10 colors, but I've got more like 100!
Many thanks, Cindy in FL |

Posted - 11/28/2008 : 08:51:14 Troy, my thanks too. I thought I'd seen something of that ilk, but I apparently glazed over it when I actually needed it! I agree that the PCS Symbols 3 pretty much does it for me; it's currently my default font for new patterns.

Posted - 11/27/2008 : 13:04:34 This is a good question....
Lets start with Options... If you have the software running, and select Options from the Tools menu, you will get the Options screen. You will see Palette Options in the Default Pattern Settings. If you click on Palette Options, you will see the font we will default to when you create patterns...
Now, the import point here is that this is the font we will use when creating NEW patterns... If you change this to Arial, or PCStitch Symbols 2, then each NEW pattern you create from this point further will use that font... If you change it again, then new patterns will use it...
The question I believe was how to change the font for EXISTING patterns. We put a new feature in 9 to do this. Open your pattern, and click on the Tools menu. Choose the Pallette Tools option, then choose "Change Font for All Symbols". Pro 9 will prompt you for the font you want to use and apply it to ALL palette entries.. You can then change them individually if you choose...
NOTE: I would really suggest you use the new PCStitch Symbols 3 font we ship with Pro 9. It is GREAT, especially with older patterns...
Hope this helps...
Sincerely, Troy Riegle

Posted - 11/26/2008 : 20:17:00 Checking it over, I see your point. I do not see a command to say (at least for a pro pattern) to convert ALL colors to a given symbol font. For Standard, you cannot mix fonts so it isn't an issue.
That's something to ask Mark and/or Troy1

Posted - 11/26/2008 : 18:33:20 I'll bite, what means "explicitly defined the font"? I've got my user options to use one of the PCStitch Symbols by default; does that 'explicitly define' it? My pattern wound up with a combination of PCStitch Symbols 1 and some non-PCStitch font and it was a major pain to convert all the symbols to PCS Symbols 3.

If you have your pattern defined and have not explicitly defined the font, then just change the font in the Symbol panel and it will do it. I did that to check your problem with the duplicated symbols and noticed the effect on the pattern I had loaded to test.
